Marina Belakonis promoted to Equine Underwriter.

Three years of growth, exceptional agent feedback, and a passion for horses that goes far beyond the desk — Marina's step up is the latest chapter in the growth of Bascule's Equine Team.

Bascule is delighted to announce the promotion of Marina Belakonis from Assistant Underwriter to Equine Underwriter.

Marina joined Bascule three years ago, and in that time her growth has been exceptional. Her dedication to supporting agents and customers has been evident from the very beginning — in the care she takes with every risk, the speed and clarity of her responses, and the trust she has earned across our agency network. This step is well deserved, and a direct reflection of her hard work and the consistently outstanding feedback we receive from our agents.

Underwriting that starts in the saddle

At Bascule, we've always believed the best equine underwriting comes from people who genuinely understand horses — and the people who own them. Marina embodies that. An active rider and competitor, she spends her weekends in the saddle, on cross-country courses, and around the horses that this industry exists to protect.

That first-hand understanding runs through her work. She knows what a horse represents to a breeder, a trainer, or an owner — not just its value on paper, but its place at the heart of a business or a family. It's why her judgement is trusted by agents, and why her handling of every risk is both technically sharp and genuinely empathetic.

Growing the team behind our agents

Marina's promotion is part of the continued strengthening of Bascule's Equine Team. As demand for our products grows, so does our commitment to the knowledgeable, approachable, and collaborative underwriting team our agents rely on. Developing talent from within is central to that — and Marina is proof of what that investment looks like.

“Marina's growth over the last three years has been remarkable. The feedback from our agents speaks for itself — she supports them with real care, real knowledge, and real speed. This promotion isn't a reward for potential; it's recognition of the underwriter she has already become.”

Sarah Moore · Chief Operations Officer, Bascule

“Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so protecting them — and the people who love them — never feels like just a job. I'm grateful to our agents for their trust, and to the team here for backing me every step of the way. I can't wait to get started.”

In her new role, Marina will take on full underwriting authority across Bascule's equine portfolio, working directly with agents on Equine Mortality & Theft and supporting the continued growth of the book. Please join us in congratulating her.
