Claims Reporting Guidelines

September 11, 2024

We are truly grateful that you’ve chosen us to protect your horses with our equine insurance solutions. Our team is dedicated to maintaining your trust and delivering exceptional service every step of the way.

Please see below the process of how to successful submit and manage a claim.

1. Immediate Reporting of Incidents:

It is crucial to report any accidents, injuries, illnesses, or diseases to BasculeUW as soon as they occur. Our team is available 24/7 at our Equine Claims line: +1877-474-5006 option 1.

Time-Sensitive Policies:
Please be aware that claims may be subject to coverage time limits. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you notify us immediately when an issue arises so we can properly guide you through the next steps.

2. Equine Medical Emergencies (Including Death):

If an equine medical emergency occurs, including the death of a horse, please contact us immediately at +1877-474-5006 option 1

Euthanasia and Necropsy Requirements:
Your mortality policy requires that either you or your veterinarian contact us before any euthanasia procedure. In the unfortunate event of a horse's death, you may need to arrange a necropsy conducted by a qualified veterinarian, at your expense. Failure to obtain a necropsy may result in the denial of your claim.

3. Information Required When Reporting a Claim:

When filing a claim, please be sure to have the following information on hand:

  1. Policy number and horse’s name
  2. Approximate date the condition or incident began
  3. A description of the issue or condition
  4. Names and contact details of the attending veterinarians
  5. Names and contact details of other relevant individuals (trainers, lessees, lessors)
  6. Any medical reports or invoices related to the claim

4. Submission of Medical Reports and Invoices:

Please ensure that all medical reports and invoices are submitted within 60 days of reporting the claim. It is your responsibility to make sure your veterinarian submits any required medical reports. You are also responsible for submitting all applicable invoices.

5. Pre-Existing Conditions:

Please note that any conditions that existed prior to your policy’s effective date are excluded from coverage. Our policy covers new conditions that arise during the policy term, provided they are not otherwise excluded. It is important to disclose any prior conditions or diagnoses your horse has received to ensure they do not affect your coverage.

For further assistance or if you have any questions about the claims process, don’t hesitate to contact us at claims@basculeuw.com. We are here to help you every step of the way.
